How we work…

It all begins with you!

Your mind is probably spinning with ideas and dreams of your wedding day. You have come to the right place, because translating what you imagine into flowers is what we love to do. What sets Thistle & Bloom Studio apart is that we don’t have a signature “Thistle & Bloom” look. Your style is our style. We bring our expertise and creativity to the table to build your vision. The experience of collaborating with couples is an adventure, and we embrace the challenge of getting the setting for your wedding just right.

After we receive an inquiry, we schedule a meeting or call to discuss what you’re looking for. The next step is a customized proposal. If you decide to reserve our services, you will pay a $600 deposit and sign contracts. This secures Thistle & Bloom Studio for your wedding or event.

From that point, most customers reach out often to share ideas or make changes. Responsiveness and accessibility are strong values of ours, so we are available and happy to chat and fine tune everything in the months leading up to your day.

We want you involved as much or as little as you want to be! While most clients like to jump into the details, others are happy to hand off the baton after contract and not speak until our final meeting 30 days out from the event. You will receive the royal treatment either way.

Amy Scherr has an amazing husband and three grown ‘children." They have worked in the ministry for 30 years, while Amy decorated homes part-time. Beauty captivates her, and God’s creation-from a pink sky to a child’s smile- is above all. When she made a prom corsage (to save $20) she found joy in working with flowers. This career checks all the boxes. She gains so much satisfaction and peace when she works with the flowers. And, since she loves people, spending time with her clients and listening to their wishes is natural for her. Working to bring their dream to life and seeing their happiness is as wonderful as the beauty of the flowers!

As a little girl growing up in West Virginia, Summer McGregor was fascinated by the purple petunias and pansies in her mother’s pots. As a teenager, she volunteered herself to make arrangements for parties and showers using “free blooms” from yards around town (shhhhhh). Then, she grew up and busied herself with family life. When her grandmother passed away in 2018, Summer wanted to make her casket spray with all her favorite flowers and colors. It sparked that magical feeling inside, and she knew the time was right to see what she could do. She loves creating florals; it is truly an artistic endeavor, expressing her heart, and it is a joy for her to be part of others’ celebrations.
